WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
RIDTEK is an Independent fast-growing family-owned Pest Control business operated by Shane and Roo Jones and based in Basingstoke.
You could say that Pest Control is in our blood. It all started way back in the 1920’s in South Eastern Australia when Shane’s great grandfather HOF was employed as a rabbit trapper during the great rabbit outbreak. This tradition was carried on through vermin eradication with Shanes Grandfather and Uncle through the 1970’s and 80’s. Shane & Roo decided that creating a business here in the U.K. and drawing from many years of experience would be an exciting venture. This has proved to be the case as the business continues to grow. The RIDTEK name comes from the abreviation of Rodent & Insect Defence TEK. We don’t ride horses to work anymore but we still work with the same family values that HOF instilled way back in the 1920’s, “Fair Dinkum Pest Control”
THE UK MOVE
Shane was living in Far North Queensland and working on the crocodile tours when he met Roo, who was traveling from England, and they were married in Cape Tribulation in 1996. After many years in Australia, we decided that it was time to move closer to Roo’s family in the U.K. in 2007. This was considered a rare move as not so many Aussies are traveling to the U.K. to live. Our customers frequently ask ” why?!”. It was all about bringing the family together. 15 years later we are proud to be owning and growing a local independent, successful, pest control and we have climatized. In fact, we have grown to love the seasons.
