Double Wasps Nest in Basingstoke

Wow!! This is something we don’t find very often. A double wasps nest. Often people ask us do wasps build a nest close to another wasps nest? Well the answer is yes. As you can see in this picture, the new nest is actually attached to the old nest. We estimate the old nest to be approx 5 years old and the new nest is exactly that, brand new. The old nest is the grey one whilst the fresh looking nest has been constructed during this summer. Wasps use wood that is scrapped of fences, sheds or untreated timber garden furniture. The use the wood to create pulp and then weave these amazing nests. Whilst they don’t inhabite the old nest the new one is full of wasps. Check out the video below of what we found.
